Care
3.1
Inspection
Before and after each use, inspect the shell, face shield and suspension for breakage, cracks, craze pattern,
discoloration, chalky appearance, or any other unusual condition. If any of these conditions exist, replace the
helmet immediately, as these conditions can indicate that the helmet has lost its capacity to protect from impact,
penetration, and/or electrical shock.
3.2
Cleaning and Disinfection
Helmet and Face shield
Helmets and eye and face protectors must be cleaned regularly for easy inspection and to help the wearer avoid
skin irritations. Use soapy water and a soft cloth. (Do not use detergent, solvent based products or abrasive
materials).
Arc Flash Earflaps (if applicable)
3.3
Storage and Transport
The helmet should be transported in sufficiently robust packaging to prevent accidental damage to the shell or
harness. Store in a proper storage bag and/or in a closed cabinet to avoid extended exposure to sunlight, cold,
humidity, exhaust fumes, etc. Store the over spectacles or face shield inside the helmet (out of use position).
For EN 50365 class 0 helmets: Recommended storage temperature, uncompressed, in a suitable container, prior
to and between uses, is 20 ±15 °C, not adjacent to a source of heat, to ensure performance.
3.4
End of Life Disposal
Discard in accordance with local regulations.
3.5
Service Life
The length of the useable life of this helmet will be affected by the type(s) of material used in its construction and
the environments in which the helmet is used and stored. Recommendations on this topic should be sought from
MSA. Storage life (all models): 3 years from manufacturing date, if stored under proper conditions. Helmet shells
have a service life of 5 years in addition to the storage time. Eye and face protectors have a service life of 5 years
including storage time.
The date code on the brim of the helmet shows the date of manufacture (shell injection), not the
starting date of use. Each helmet shows year and month of manufacture.
MSA recommends writing the date of first use onto the supplied sticker and sticking it into the shell. This is usually
the date when service life starts. The expiry date can also be written under the brim at the appropriate location.
