2. How to use the DPI610E
2.1 Battery Information
2.1.1 Battery and Charging
The instrument has a chargeable Li-ion battery. To charge
the battery, push the power supply into the DC charging
port under the protection flap, at the top of the instrument
(see Figure 1). The battery status indicator will illuminate
when the instrument receives a charge.

The instrument can be charged while energized (power on)
or when de-energized (power off). The battery charge time
is approximately 2 hours from empty to fully charged.
The instrument can also be charged from any vehicle (with
a standard 12V accessory socket) using a IO610E-CAR
CHARGER (optional accessory).
2.1.2 Battery Status Indicator
The Battery Status Indicator (Figure 2) illuminates when
the instrument receives a charge.
Note: Each LED represents approximately 25% battery
capacity.

The button next to the Battery Status indicator can be
pushed to show the battery capacity. This can be done
when the instrument is on or off.
The instrument operation time, from a fully-charged
battery, can be ≥ 30 hours in normal operation.
2.2 Pneumatic Units
2.2.1 Vent to atmosphere
To vent the system to atmospheric
pressure, slowly turn the pressure
release knob fully counter-clockwise
until the sensor returns to zero
(gauge sensor) or 1 bar (absolute
sensor).
DPI610E-A: Use the above
procedure to reduce pressure to
below 1000 ft (36 mbarg). Slowly turn
the knob of the let-down valve
counter-clockwise to vent fully to
atmosphere.
CAUTION
pressure can damage the
instrument. Open the pressure
release knob slowly and
monitor the pressure reading
until you reach the necessary
pressure.
2.2.2 Attach a Dirt and Moisture Trap
To attach a dirt and moisture trap to
the test port, turn the connector fully
counter-clockwise until it is hand tight.
Make sure that the device under test
has a male G ⅜ Quickfit adapter
thread or use a suitable adapter rated
to 35 bar.
