17.2 Electrically connecting the unit
1. Switch off power supply circuits, position a
visible sign warning against being accident-
ally switched back on.
2. Open terminal box, route cables into terminal
box and screw down with cable feedthrough.
Cable screw connections according to stand-
ard EN 60079-1 (Ex "d") must be used.
• The various types of cable entries (sleeves,
cable screw connections or plugs) certified as
described above must have the following

• An adapter can be supplied and fitted for devi-
ating connections and other threads of the ter-
minal box. The adapter must be certified ac-
cording to EN 60079-0 and EN 60079-1 or EN
60079-7.

3. Wire the unit electrically, install the PTC ther-
NPT
mistor triggering system according to the rel-
evant circuit diagram → Circuit diagram.
Every unused core line, in multi-core cables,
must either be connected to earth at the end
in potentially explosive atmospheres or be
adequately insulated by terminals suitable for
the type of ignition protection. Insulation with
insulating tape alone is not permitted (EN
60079-14).
Fit terminal box cover for explosion protec-
tion. Ensure that there are no dirt particles in
Nm
the terminal box and that the seal of the ter-
minal box cover has close contact all the way
around the terminal box. Please refer to the
following table for tightening torques.

17.3 Earthing of the unit and duct
12
system
12
Properly earth units, installed in outdoor
15
areas, in accordance with IEC
15
60364-5-54:2011. Take into consideration the
24
requirements of earthing systems, PE con-
24
ductors and protective bonding conductors.
24
Attach a conductor eye to the PE conductor
24
and screw it down properly to the unit hous-
ing so that they have stable electric continuity
and sufficient mechanical protection and
strength. Ensure equipotential bonding be-
fore commissioning the unit.
1. Securely screw down the earth conductor to
the unit housing (tightening torque 10 Nm).
2. Ensure equipotential bonding before commis-
sioning the unit.
3. Connect PE conductor at mains end in ter-
minal box with explosion protection.
4. Connect PE conductor duct system to ter-
minal on outside of unit.
17.4 Direction of rotation and air
flow direction
The direction of rotation is marked on the
motor. The air is sucked in via the inlet nozzle
and blown out via the air outlet.
17.5 Checking electrical connection
1. Perform the following checks: D = detailed
check, N = close inspection, S = visual in-
spection

Test schedule
I
Screws, cable glands (direct and
indirect), blanking plugs are of
the correct type, complete and
sealed.
II Cable and line type appropriate
for the purpose.
III No visible damage on cables
and lines.
IV Cable screw connections in ac-
cordance with standard EN
60079-1 (Ex "d") must be used.
V The ignition transmission pre-
vention passages must be free
of dirt and damage and greased
(AGIP GR NS 4 or equivalent).
VI Electrical connections secure.
VII Unused connection terminals
tightened.
VIII Insulation resistance (IR) of mo-
tor windings satisfactory.
IX Earth connections, including any
additional equipotential bonding
connections, are proper (e.g.
connections are solid, conductor
cross-sections are sufficient).
X Error loop impedance (TN sys-
tem) or earth resistance (IT sys-
tem) satisfactory.
XI Automatic electrical protective
equipment set correctly (auto-
matic resets not possible).
XII Special operating conditions are
observed (PTC thermistor trig-
gering system in accordance
with Directive 2014/34/EC).
XIII All cables and lines that are not
being used are connected prop-
erly.
XIV Installation with changeable
voltage in agreement with the
documentation.
XV Electrical insulation clean/dry.
2. Fit terminal box cover for explosion protec-
tion. Make sure that there are no dirt particles
in the terminal box and on the ignition trans-
mission prevention passages and that the
connection surfaces are undamaged and
greased as specified (Installation instructions
[} 10]). Observe the tightening torques ac-
cording to the table (Electrically connecting
the unit [} 11]).
18 Commissioning
18.1 Checks before commissioning
1. Perform the following checks: D = detailed
check, N = close inspection, S = visual in-
spection
Test schedule
I
No damage or unauthorised
changes on unit.
II Condition of terminal box seal
satisfactory. Ensure connections
are sealed.
III No evidence of water or dust en-
tering the housing in compliance
with the IP rating.
IV Encapsulated components un-
damaged.
V Impeller at sufficient distance
from housing (air gap).
