1.1 Use
The KESSEL backwater valves are inten-
ded for installation in gravity fed wastewa-
ter pipes.
The KESSEL backwater valves must be kept
in good working order at all times and be
easily accessible. The flaps are normally clo-
sed and open automatically to allow outflo-
wing water to pass.
The double and single flap lockable backwa-
ter valves have a manually lockable flap as an
emergency stop. This enables the valve to be
opened and closed manually. If out of opera-
tion for a prolonged period, the emergency
flap should be kept closed.
The single flap backwater valve does not have
the manual locking capability.
Only the double flap lockable backwater valve
meets DIN 1997 and offers additional security
due to the double flaps.
