Installation and assembly
The flow direction arrow should be observed when determining the installation
position in relation to the flow. When installing the valves 2140/2180/2142/2182 in a
horizontal pipeline, a vertical position or an inclination of up to 65° from the vertical
position is recommended for the actuating element.
Dirt traps type 2143/2183 are installed in the flow direction. If the pipe pitch is
horizontal, it is recommended to install the valve bonnet vertically downwards.
In order to ensure proper functioning of the valves, they must be installed in such a
way that they are not subject to any impermissible static, dynamic or thermal stres-
ses. Furthermore, before installing the valves, ensure that they are suitable for the
intended use. Also check that the valves are free of damage and contamination. If
this is not the case, the valves must not be installed. Remove any protective caps.
Installation may only be carried out by qualified persons and when the pipe system
is depressurised.
Flush the pipes to remove residue before installing the valves. Residue can damage
internal parts and lead to malfunctions, including failure of the valves.
The pipelines must be connected to the valve without tension!
When screwing in pipes and connections, use suitable tools to hold the valves in
place! For valves with welding ends, ensure that seals are not overheated during
installation/welding and that distortion of the housing is prevented. Similarly, ensure
that no welding residue enters the valves. Any welding residue must be completely
removed. Any weld seam heat treatment that is necessary is the responsibility of the
system manufacturer or operator.
Tightening torques
Remove the valve upper sections before welding / soldering. The shut-off valve
type 2140/2180 must be in a completely open position before dismantling the valve
bonnet. Undo the screws (pos. 3). Direction of rotation: counterclockwise and then
remove the screws. Remove the upper section (pos. 4) and seal (pos. 2) and dispose
of the seal. Weld / solder in the housing (pos. 1) and then insert a new seal (pos. 2).
Fit the upper section again.
CAUTION: do not damage the new seal. Fit the screws and tighten them to the spe-
cified tightening torque in a diagonally opposite sequence (see Table 1). Direction of
rotation: clockwise. Then check that they are tight. The following tightening torques
must be adhered to (Table 1).
