the mains
The battery charge level is shown at the top right corner of display with the battery icon changing
gradually from full to empty. With low battery charge, the icon
roughness unit as quickly as possible to the battery charger provided. Look out for the right voltage
(230V, 50/60Hz) before plugging the power cable into the mains outlet, then into the appropriate socket
at the rear of the gauge unit. Be sure the latter is fully plugged in.
Leave the battery pack in charge for at least 10 hours. Complete charging takes 16 hours. The power
supply may remain connected beyond this time as this unit incorporates a charge control operating
automatically. Your roughness gauge can still be used while the battery pack is recharging.
Note
Do not store your gauge unit with discharged batteries for a long period of time, otherwise they will be
damaged. Check the battery charge at least once every 30 days. If charge fall far below a given level,
you will not be able to switch your roughness gauge on. Do not replace batteries with zinc-carbon or
alkaline ones as they might explode if you try to charge them or, in any case, cause the gauge unit to
be damaged when their charge is low.
Replacing the battery pack
21
The battery pack can support a given number of recharge/discharge cycles before it needs to be
replaced by a new one, type NiMH, 7,2 V, 300mAh, PP3 format.
To open the battery compartment, remove the front cover plate of the gauge unit once you've undo the
3 tightening screws.
Remove the battery pack, then the brackets. Finally, insert the spare one.
ATTENTION DANGER
Provided the replacement is made within 10 seconds, no data or presettings will be lost. If not, the
gauge unit will reset itself so that calibration, headings and other significant data will be lost.
Insert the battery pack fully into place, and then refit front cover plate.
