Shifting operations can generate noise or vibrations.
Depending on the respective gear, the shifting process feels
different. Noises can also occur when one of the last four
gears is engaged and the crank is turned backwards or the
e-bike is pushed backwards. All these phenomena are due to
EN
the design of the internal shifting system and do not indicate
a defect.

Pinion C-Line (6- or 9-gear) shifting system
Arthur / Antonia / Emil / Emilia – Pinion
The Pinion gearbox is a bottom bracket shifting system that is shifted by a
twist grip shifter attached to the handlebars.
Shifting several gears in one go, while standing still or with the crank
stationary or rotating backwards is possible.
Upshift
• Turn the twist grip shifter in the direction of travel. The marking 1 on
the fixed part of the twist grip shifter shows the selected gear (fig. 34).
An upshift under load is possible for all gear changes, except for gear
changes between the respective sub-gearboxes. Reduce the pressure on
the pedal during the following gear changes:
• Pinion 9-gear – gear change from 3 to 4 and from 6 to 7.
• Pinion 6-gear – gear change from 3 to 4.
Downshift
• Turn the twist grip shifter away from the direction of travel.
The marking 1 on the fixed part of the twist grip shifter shows the
selected gear (fig. 34).
Downshifting under load is possible with restrictions. In order to protect the
gearbox, the shifting process is not executed as long as the pressure on
the crank or pedal is too strong.
• Reduce the pressure on the pedal during the downshift.

Occasionally, the crank may "fall through" by about 10° after
a shift operation. You will feel a short jolt caused by a gear
that is not immediately engaged. This phenomenon cannot
be eliminated, but does not cause damage to the gearbox.

Gates Carbon Drive™ drive system
CAUTION
!
Risk of injury when wearing unsuitable clothing
and incorrect handling!
The belt drive can cause injury during operation if limbs or clothing get
jammed between the belt and belt pulleys.
» Do not reach into the belt drive when the belt and belt pulleys are
moving.
» When cycling, wear tight-fitting legwear if possible instead of wide
trousers, dresses or skirts.
» Make sure that loose clothing cannot get caught in the moving parts
of the e-bike, for example by using trouser clips.
» Make sure that no loose straps, laces or the like are hanging down.
Read and follow the notices:

Lighting
WARNING
!
Risk of accident and injury!
If you drive without lights in poor visibility conditions, you might not be
seen by other road users.
» Switch on the lighting when visibility is poor, e.g. at dusk.
WARNING
!
Risk of accident and injury!
Inattentiveness in road traffic due to switching on the lights.
» Operate the lighting only when the e-bike is stationary.
