6.2 Conversion from two to one pipe operation
6.2.1 Use in two pipe systems
The ZBU isolating fitting is supplied for operation in
two pipe systems. If presetting (hydronic balancing)
has to be carried out at the fitting, proceed as described
under point 6.3.1. Further modifications are not required.
6.2.2 Use in one pipe systems
ZBU Isolating fitting:
1. Remove the lateral protection cap (spanner size
17) from the isolation.
2. Starting from the shut position, set the conversion
stem (spanner size 4) to the required radiator share
according to chart 9.2 for one pipe operation by
turning it anticlockwise.
3. Refit the protection cap.
The CEW isolating fitting is preset at works for operation
in one pipe systems with a radiator share of 35%.
Other radiator shares can be set according to chart
9.2. The fitting can also be used for two pipe operation.
To do so, close the bypass stem by turning it clockwise.
6.3 Presetting, isolating, draining and filling
6.3.1 Presetting (on the supply or the return side)
1. Remove the protection cap (spanner size 19).
2. Close the valve disc by turning a 4 mm spanner
clockwise.
3. Preset the valve disc by turning the 4 mm spanner
anticlockwise according to the number of turns
selected from chart 9.1 for two pipe operation.
6.3.2 Isolating
1. Remove the protection caps (spanner size 19) from
the isolations.
2. Close both valves discs by turning a 4 mm spanner
clockwise.
6.3.3 Draining of the radiator
1. Isolate the fitting as described under point 6.3.2.
2. Loosen the insert by turning a 10 mm spanner
anticlockwise (max. ¼ thread).
3. Fit the service tool (item no. 1090551) to the
connection of the fitting and connect a hose. Firmly
tighten the compression nut (spanner size 19) (max.
10 Nm).
4. Fit the 10 mm spanner to the service tool and drain
the radiator by turning it anticlockwise.
NOTICE
The differential pressure must not exceed 4 bar
during filling and draining.
6.3.4 Filling of the radiator via the service tool
1. If the radiator was drained with the service tool, no
modifications are required (now the radiator has to
be bled).
2. With the filling operation completed, fit the 10 mm
spanner to the service tool and close the insert by
turning clockwise.
3. Remove the service tool from the fitting and tighten
the insert with the 10 mm spanner (max. 10 Nm).
4. Open the valve disc by turning a 4 mm spanner
anticlockwise until stop. Bleed the radiator.
5. Refit the cap.
6.3.5 F illing of the radiator via the heating system
1. Close the valve disc by turning a 10 mm spanner
clockwise (max. 10 Nm).
2. Open the valve disc by turning a 4 mm spanner
anticlockwise until stop. Bleed the radiator.
3. Refit the cap.
Observe warning adivce under paragraph 2
(safety notes)!
!
CAUTION
– Do not use any lubricant or oil when installing the
isolating fitting as these may destroy the seals.

residues must be removed from the pipework by
flushing the latter.
– When choosing the operating fluid, the latest
technical development has to be considered (e.g.
VDI 2035).
– Please protect against external forces (e.g.
impacts, vibrations etc.).

7 Maintenance
