TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE FOR ELECTRIC IGNITION
Problem
No sparks when pressing the ignition;
no sound
No sparks when pressing the ignition;
sound is present
Sparks are present but not with all elec-
trodes and/or not powerful enough

Probable cause
• Blocked venturi tubes
• Gas cylinder valve is not open
• Venturi tubes not positioned over exhaust valves
• Blocked burner openings
• Cylinder is empty or almost empty
• Regulator not fitted correctly on cylinder
• Venturi tubes are partly blocked
• Salt on burner
• The product is connected to Buthane.
• Windy weather
• Cylinder almost empty
• The bottom of the burner bowl is dirty.
• Too fatty food
• Blocked fat drain hole
• Cooking system not positioned correclty
• Blocked venturi tubes
• Temporary situation caused by high outside temperature or
full cylinder
• Blocked, pierced or rusted burner
Probable cause
• Battery not installed correctly
• Empty or missing battery
• Ignition button not installed correctly
• Defective spark generator
• Faulty ground
• Burner and electrode are positioned too far apart
• Faulty ground
• Spark flashover away from burner(s)
• Low battery
• Electrodes are wet
• Electrodes cracked or brokenn "sparks are present"
Solution
• Clean venturi tubes
• Open gas cylinder valve
• Reinstall venturi tubes
• Clean openings or fit new burner
• New cylinder
• Tighten up connector of regulator
• Disconnect hose
• Clean venturi tubes
• Clean burner
• Connect the product to Propane with the right connector.
• Move barbecue with rear side pointing towards the wind
• New cylinder or fill up
• Clean the fire bowl of the barbecue.
• Trim excess fat or reduce heat
• Clean bottom of burner box and burner
• Position cooking system correctly
• Shut off gas immediately, allow barbecue to cool down and
clean venturi tubes
• This is not a defect or a hazard
• Clean / replace burner
Solution
• Install battery (ensure that "+" and "-" are oriented cor-
rectly, with "+" at the top and "-" at the bottom)
• Replace with new AA battery
• Screw off button and reinstall
• Replace spark generator
• Remove and reconnect all connections with spark generator
and electrodes
• Bring the electrode closer to the burner by bending it slightly
• Remove and reconnect all connections to the spark genera-
tor and the electrodes
• If sparks are present that do not originate from the
burner(s), the wiring may be damaged. Replace the wiring.
• Replace with new AA battery
• Use paper tissues to remove the dirt
• Replace cracked or defective electrodes
