OPERATION
WARNING! Do not release the clutch while the winch is pulling a
load. It may cause the load to shift or move unexpectedly and the
cable may snap with the unexpected stress. Either may cause death
or severe injury to the user or bystanders.

BEFORE FIRST USE

The cable must be wound onto the drum while under tension to avoid
binding during normal operation. Pull all but five wraps of cable off the
drum. Connect the cable to a 500 lb (227 kg) load. There must be no
slack in the line. You may need to use a snatch block if the load is closer.
Run the winch to pull the load. Watch the wraps. If they bind or are
uneven, reverse the winch, reposition the cable and resume until there
are only a few feet left outside the fairlead.
DUTY CYCLE (DURATION OF USE)
The winch has a duty cycle of 5% per 15 minutes at full capacity. After
using the winch for 45 seconds, the winch must rest for 14 minutes
and 15 seconds. Exceeding this may damage the winch mechanism or
cause it to overheat and trip the circuit breaker.
Many things affect the winch duty cycle. When the winch's electric
motor is too hot to touch with a bare hand, allow the winch to rest until
the surface temperature drops low enough to touch with a bare hand.
OPERATION
WARNING! Disconnect the battery leads before working near the
cable, drum, fairlead or load. This will prevent the winch from
accidentally starting and causing an injury.
NOTICE! A winch with a roller fairlead can pull loads at a 45° angle
to the left or right and 15° up or down. Exceeding these angles can
damage the cable and result in a loss of control over the load.
Keep the engine running while operating the winch. This will prevent
the battery from discharging during use. Take precautions when
working around a vehicle that is running.
1. Make sure the operator can safely control the winch before
performing any functions with it and that they are familiar with
all safety and operating instructions.
