2.1 Check if there is enough room to attach the power wire to the
winch and access the manual controls with gloved hands.
3. Mark the drill hole locations using the mounting plate (#9) as a
template. The corner holes match the screw mounting holes in
the back of the winch.
4. Drill each hole with a 5/16 in. drill bit to accommodate the
5/16-18 x 1 in. screw (#11).
5. Drop four bolts (#11) through the four center bolts in the
mounting plate.
6. Place the winch onto the mounting plate and align with the four
corner bolt holes.
7. Slide a 3/8 in. washer (#15) and 5/16 in. lock washer (#13) over each
four 5/16-18 in. bolts and screw them into the winch through the
mounting plate's corner holes. Tighten the bolts to 12 ft-lb torque.
8. Fit the protruding bolts into the pre-drilled holes in the mounting
location. Slide a 3/18 in. washer (#15) and 5/16 in. lock washer
(#13) over the bolts and tighten to 12 ft-lb torque.
9. Position the fairlead (#10) over the mounting plate's exterior
flange and align the bolt holes.
9.1 Mount the fairlead, if separate, to the opening in the
structure, such as a bumper. Use the fairlead as a template
to mark the two bolt holes. Drill each bolt hole with a 3/8 in.
drill bit.
10. Slide a 3/8 in. washer (#15) and 5/16 in. lock washer (#13) over
each 3/8-16 in. bolt (#12).
11. Insert the first screw and tighten, but not fully. Insert the second
screw and tighten until the fairlead is flush and the lock washer is
partially compressed. Finish tightening the first screw.

INSTALLING THE CABLE

1. Turn the clutch (Fig. 2-3) to free spool setting.
2. Feed the cable through the fairlead (#10) onto the drum.
3. Carefully wind the cable onto the drum from underneath.
4. All wraps must touch to prevent outer cable wraps from slipping
between lower wraps and creating a snag.
