3.6 FILLING THE HEATING SYSTEM (FIG. 26)
Once the hydraulic connections have been carried out, fill the heating system.
This operation must be carried out with cold system following this instructions:
- turn by two or three turns the automatic relief valve cap (A)
- make sure the cold water inlet tap is open
- open the filling tap (B) until the pressure indicated by the water pressure
gauge is within 1 and 1.5 bar.
Once filling is complete, close the filling tap.
NB:
air deaeration from the Caldariello C boiler is automatic through the
automatic relief valve located in the circulator.
Make sure the deaeration valve is open.
The burner switches on only if the air relief phase is finished.
Emptying the heating system
To empty the system, proceed as follow:
- switch off the boiler
- loose the boiler outlet tap (C)
- empty the lowest points of the system.
Emptying the domestic hot water
When there is risk of frost, the domestic hot water system must be emptied
in the following way:
- close the main tap of the water mains
- open all the hot and cold water taps
- empty the lowest points.
WARNING
When carrying out the discharge of the safety valve (D), it must be connected
to a suitable collection system. The manufacturer is not responsible for
possible damages due to safety valve operation

4 - IGNITION AND OPERATION

4.1 PRELIMINARY CHECKS

a) that the supply networks data (electric, water, gas) corresponds to the
label data
b) that piping leaving the boiler is covered by thermal insulation sheath
c) that flue gas extraction and air suction pipes work correctly
d) that conditions for regular maintenance are guaranteed if the boiler is
placed inside or between furniture
e) the seal of the fuel adduction system
f) that fuel capacity corresponds to values requested by the boiler
g) that the fuel supply system has the correct capacity for the necessary
capacity to the boiler and that it has all the safety and control devices
prescribed by current regulations.
4.2 APPLIANCE IGNITION
- Set the mode selector to
(off-reset)
- Set the main system switch to "on" (the boiler status green signal starts
flashing)
- Adjust room thermostat to desired temperature (-20°C) or, should the
system have a timer, this must be "on" and adjusted (-20°C)
- Set the mode selector (1) to summer (reference notch on
winter (reference notch on graduated zone) depending on the season;
the boiler status signal is green and flashes at a frequency of 0.5 second
ON and 3.5 seconds OFF; the boiler will be in stand-by status: when heat
is required the burner will ignite and the led light becomes fixed green to
show there is a flame.

ADJUSTMENT OF THE HEATING WATER TEMPERATURE (1)
With changes in outside temperature it may be necessary to increase or
lower the temperature of the heating water by re-adjusting the selector of
the boiler heating water temperature.
Turn clockwise to increase water temperature and anti-clockwise to lower it.
ADJUSTMENT OF DOMESTIC HOT WATER TEMPERATURE (2)
The hot water temperature can be changed by turning the hot water thermostat
clockwise to increase the temperature and anti-clockwise to lower it.
If the led lights up green and flashes at a frequency of 0.5 seconds ON and
0.5 seconds OFF, this signifies that the boiler is in temporary shutdown (see
light signals and faults section).
The Caldariello C boiler will keeping working until reaching the set
temperature, after which it will go into standby

4.3 SWITCHING OFF

Temporary switching off
In case of absence for short periods of time, set the mode selector (1) to
(off/reset-green signal on and flashing)
With the power supply and combustible gas still connected the boiler is
protected by systems:
- Antifreeze: this mode will start up if the water temperature in the boiler
drops to below 5°C, the circulator starts up with a timer cycle of 15' every
2 hours with the following logic: the circulator will switch off when the
water temperature in the boiler exceeds 10°C; the burner ignites at
minimum on heating when the water temperature in the boiler drops to
below 5°C until the water reaches 30°C, this is followed by a post-circulation
for 30 seconds.
- Circulator anti-lockout: the circulator starts working every 24 hours of
standstill and anyhow after 3 hours from the last time hot water was drawn.
Long period switching off
In case of absence for long periods of time:
- Set the mode selector (1) to
symbol) or
- Set the main system switch to "OFF" and check that the green signal
switches off
- Turn off the gas and water cocks of the heating and hot water systems.
4.4 LIGHT SIGNALS AND FAULTS
The control panel has two led that indicate the boiler operating status:
2
- Green led
- Red led
Green led
-
-
SUMMER MODE
WINTER MODE
The boiler will go into "SAFETY STOP" if there should be faults in
ignition or working: the green signal on the instrument panel will go off
and the red boiler in lockout signal will light up (see light signals and
faults section).
(off/reset green signal on and flashing)
In this case, anti-frost device is deactivated: empty the systems, in
case of risk of frost.
Flashing with frequency 0.5 second on - 3.5 seconds off = boiler in
standby, there is no flame.
Flashing with frequency 0.5 second on - 0.5 second off = temporary
stop of the appliance due to the following self-restoring faults:
- water pressure switch (standby time 10 minutes approximately)
- air pressure switch (standby time 10 minutes approximately)
- transitory waiting for ignition.
In this phase, the boiler waits for restoration of working conditions. If
after standby time, the boiler will not restore regular operation, stop will
be permanent and light signalling will be red.
