Carburettor adjustment

YOU MAY ADJUST THE IDLE SPEED ONLY by turning the idle speed adjustment screw (T).
During carburettor adjustment, the cutting attachment may move. Pay utmost attention and care to the cutting at-
tachment so as not to get injured by the moving cutter.
When carburettor adjustment is completed, the cutting attachment should not move at idle speed, otherwise serious
personal injury may result.
You must NOT carry out any Carburettor adjustment, other than the idle speed. All other adjustments MUST be per-
formed by an authorized service dealer, or serious personal injury may result due to malfunction of the engine.
When there is trouble with the carburettor, contact an authorized service dealer.

3.
Insert 0.10 mm feeler gauge between valve stem tip and
rocker arm.
4.
Turn adjustment screw (clockwise = tighter, anticlockwise =
looser) until feeler gauge is almost snug. Back off just
enough to allow gauge to slip out with limited resistance.
5.
While holding adjustment screw in place with Allen driver,
tighten locknut with wrench.
6.
Turn engine over several times, and return to TDC-compres-
sion. Recheck with proper feeler gauge to make sure clear-
ance adjustment did not change as a result of tightening
locknut. Readjust as necessary.
7.
Replace rocker arm cover gasket to assure proper sealing
and install cover.
IMPORTANT
If new gasket is not available and/or old gasket is not damaged,
old gasket may be reused. Never use cracked or damaged gas-
kets.
WARNING
CAUTION
Every unit is test run at the factory and the carburettor is fine
tuned for maximum performance.
Before adjusting carburettor, clean or replace air filter, start en-
gine and run several minutes to bring it to operating temperature.
To adjust the carburettor proceed as follow:
Start engine and turn "idle" speed adjustment screw clockwise
until the cutting attachment begins to turn, then turn the screw
anticlockwise until the cutting attachment stops turning. Fur-
thermore, give the screw an additional 1 3/4 turn. Repeat the
process of accelerating to full throttle and return to idle a few
times. Check that the cutting attachment stops moving at idle.
If a tachometer is available, the engine idle speed should be
final adjusted to 3000 r/min.
NOTE
When the carburettor cannot be adjusted properly with the idle
speed adjustment screw (T), you must contact an authorized
service dealer.
