04.04 WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

WARNING
Improper handling and use of this product can cause hazards and damages.
CAUTION
Therapeutic ultrasound procedures are associated with a risk of unintentional concentration of
the ultrasound field and thus the risk of injury to the patient.
Violent external shocks (accident, fall, etc.) may put the integrity of the M.scio and the shunt
system at risk.
Frequent pumping of the M.scio "dome" variants can result in excessive drainage, thus leading
to pressure conditions outside of the normal physiological range. The patient should be informed
about this risk.
NOTE
The following situations can cause the measuring cell of the M.scio to fail:
Use of energy-emitting devices such as defibrillators
Passing of an electrical current from an external source though the body (monopolar forceps)
Use of radiation therapy and radionuclide patient imaging procedures
