Select on PROLITE-90 the 1310 nm output and read on PROLITE-20/21 the
power value at that wavelength using the Set Ref Level function (see section
4.2.2. from PROLITE-20/21 user's manual).
Repeat the previous process for the wavelength of 1550 nm.
Attenuation measurement in the optical communications network
Next the procedure to take the measurement is described (see figure 3).

Connect the PROLITE-90 to the transmission node from the optical
communications network that is desired to verify.
Activate the AUTO key on PROLITE-90, the source will sequentially generate
both wavelengths: 1310 nm and 1550 nm.
Connect the PROLITE-20/21 to the reception node from the optical
communications network.
Activate the loudspeaker sound of PROLITE-20/21 using the function
Speaker ON.
When the PROLITE-20/21 receives the wavelength of 1310 nm you can hear
through the loudspeaker a tone under 270 Hz, to know the real value of that
measurement you must select the 1310 nm wavelength on the optical meter.
When the wavelength of 1550 nm is received you will hear a high tone of
2000 Hz, and you must select the wavelength of 1550 nm to know the real
value of that measurement.
