4.2 Operating Instructions

The PROLITE-90 is an easy to use instrument, which can be controlled with
only four keys: one to select the active wavelength, another to activate/deactivate the
output signal modulation, one to activate or deactivate the automatic operating mode
and a ON/OFF key.

4.2.1 Selecting the Active Wavelength

The PROLITE-90 is a laser light source capable of emitting two different
wavelengths, 1310 nm and 1550 nm. The PROLITE-90 can emit the two wavelengths it
is capable of generating simultaneously. These two are emitted through the same
output located on top of the instrument.
The luminous indicator for the corresponding active wavelength remains lit.
When you decide to modulate the output, the luminous indicator for the corresponding
active wavelength flashes.
The active wavelength may be changed by pressing key

modulated before, the new active wavelength will also be modulated.

4.2.2 Signal Modulation

The PROLITE-90 enables the two wavelengths it is capable of generating to be
modulated with an internal signal.
For the 1310 nm wavelength corresponds a frequency modulation of 270 Hz,
whereas the 1550 nm wavelength has associate a 2 kHz modulation.
To activate modulation of the output signal, press key
indicator for the corresponding active wavelength will begin to flash approximately five
times a second to indicate that the output signal is being modulated.
To deactivate, deselect, modulation of the output signal press key
led for the corresponding active wavelength will stop flashing to indicate that the output
signal is no longer being modulated.
When the modulation is activated, the key to select the automatic operating
mode [4] is not operative.
