How ever, it should still be possible to
push the flat hand between the strap
and the shoulder. It is important that you
stretch the entire belt from top to
bottom. Check the fit of the shoulder
pad, which should be positioned so that
the pad is in contact with the anterior
area of the shoulder. Under the arm, the
strap should curl up to avoid any chafing.
Every shoulder strap is equipped with a
pre-shaped plastic element that makes
putting the belt on easier. This can be
removed at any time.
Elastic middle strap
Adjust the middle strap to the optimum
length so that the reverse buckle is
located in the extension of the armpit
and the patient's shoulders are
adequately held backwards.
Checking the fit of the brace
• Back pad adjusted to fit the patient's
spinal curvature
• The pelvic strap runs firmly below the
pelvic bone
• The shoulder strap is flat against the
body and the flat hand can still be
inserted between the strap and the
shoulder
• The shoulder pad is in the optimum
position
• The elastic connecting strap is
adjusted to the correct length
Spinomed
Dear patient!
Your doctor has recommended that
you wear a Spinomed. In order to
make application easier, please read
the instructions carefully.
Putting on the orthosis
Wear the Spinomed over your clothes. To
make it easier for you to put on the
brace, it is helpful to stand in front of a
long mirror.
Putting on the Spinomed is like
putting on a rucksack
• Undo the large hook and loop
• Put on the orthosis as you would
• Pass your right hand through the loop
Now look in the mirror to check
• The fit of the back brace: this should
• The strap system; none of the straps
• The fit of the shoulder pad; the strap
• The reverse buckles; these must not
Caution
To avoid the possibility of the back brace
slipping, the pelvic strap must be
tightened more than the shoulder strap.
®
Slight upward slippage of the brace will
not have any effect on the function of
the orthosis. For the sake of comfort,
how ever, you should pull the brace
down again.
Mode of operation
When you wear the Spinomed, your back
muscles will be activated. As a result,
your upper body will be gently
straightened, countering the curvature
of the spine which is typical of
