Freezing and storing
Purchasing frozen foods
Pay attention when buying frozen foods:

Make sure that the packaging is not damaged.

Check the use by date.

The temperature inside the freezer must be below
−18 °C. If it is not, the storage life of the frozen food
will be reduced.

When doing your shopping, purchase frozen foods
last. Wrap frozen foods in newspaper or put them in
a cold bag to take them home.

Once you are home, immediately put frozen foods in
the freezer compartment. Use frozen foods before
the use by date.

Do not refreeze defrosted food.
Exception: If you are processing (cooking or roasting)
food for a ready to eat meal, then you can refreeze
this meal.
Storing frozen food
If you need to store a large amount of food, you can
remove the drawers and stack the food directly in the
compartments.
Utilisable volume
You will find information regarding the utilisable volume
on the rating plate.
Freezing food yourself
Only use fresh, undamaged food for freezing. Pack food
so that it is airtight to prevent it from losing its flavour or
drying out. Food should be frozen thoroughly as quickly
as possible.
To do this, pack it correctly:
Store food in its packaging.

Press air out completely.

Seal packaging tightly.

Label packaging with the content and date of

freezing.
The following are unsuitable as packaging:
Wrapping paper, greaseproof paper, cellophane, rubbish
bags and used shopping bags.
The following are suitable as packaging:
Plastic film, polyethylene hose film, aluminium foil,
freezer bags. You will find these products at your
specialist dealer.
The following are suitable for sealing packaging:
Rubber bands, plastic clips, pack twines, cold resistant
scotch tape, or similar.
Polyethylene bags and hose film can be fused closed
using a bag sealer.
Storage life of frozen foods
The storage duration depends on the type of frozen
food.
At a medium temperature:
Fish, sausages, ready meals,
bakery products
Cheese, poultry, meat
Vegetables, fruit
Thawing frozen foods
You can decide between the following options,
depending on the type of food and purpose for which
you are thawing it:
At room temperature,

in the refrigerator,
D
in the electric oven, with/without hot air ventilator,

in the microwave oven.

Information!
Do not refreeze thawed food. It can only be refrozen
after it has been processed (cooked or roasted).
