Pressing the button in the crown consecutively
activates the three following functions:
1. Press to simultaneously start the chronograph
and split‑seconds hands;
2. Press to simultaneously stop the chronograph
and split‑seconds hands;
3. Press to return the chronograph
and split‑seconds hands to zero;
The button at 2 o'clock is used exclusively to control the
split-seconds hand.
Measuring a lap TiMe
To start a measurement, press the button in the
crown: this will set the superposed chronograph
and split‑seconds hands in motion.
To take a lap time reading, press the button at
2 o'clock: this causes the split‑seconds hand to
stop, but the chronograph hand will continue to
advance. You can now read the lap time.
When you press the button at 2 o'clock again, the
split‑seconds hand will swiftly catch up with the
chronograph hand; both hands continue to ad‑
vance, now superposed. You can take as many lap
time readings as you wish.
To measure the total duration of the event that you
are timing, push the button in the crown: the chro‑
nograph hand will stop and you can read the stopped
time. Push the button in the crown again to reset the
chronograph and split‑seconds hands to zero.
Caution: To simultaneously reset the chronograph and
split-seconds hands to zero, they must be superposed. If the
split-seconds hand is still stopped at a lap time, make it join
the chronograph hand by pressing the button at 2 o'clock.
Now, pressing the button in the crown will cause both hands
to return to zero together.
saving a reference TiMe
Press the button in the crown to set the chrono‑
graph and split‑seconds hands in motion. Press
the button at 2 o'clock to stop the reference time:
the split‑seconds hand will remain in that position.
Press the button in the crown twice to stop the
chronograph hand and return it to zero. The split‑
seconds hand stays where it is and indicates the
reference time.
From this point on, you can use the button in the
crown to stop as many times as you wish and com‑
pare them with the reference time indicated by the
split‑seconds hand.
At the end of the measurement series, make the split‑
seconds hand join the chronograph hand by pressing
the button at 2 o'clock. Afterwards, pressing the but‑
ton in the crown will cause both hands to return to
zero together.
Note: Thanks to their innovative tooth profiles, the chrono-
graph wheels in the reference 7059 resist wear much better
than conventional ones with triangular teeth. Nonetheless,
it is not advisable to keep the chronograph mechanism run-
ning indefinitely. It should only be used for stopping times.
