Warning
1. The LCR/LCM/stopfor™ K/stopfor™ B is a work positioning
lanyard, conforming to standard EN 358. This device can
only be used by one person wearing a fall arrest harness (EN
361). A fall-arrest harness is the only personal safety device
which can be worn in a fall-arrest system.
2. Before use, it is essential that users are trained in the use of
this device and that they have read the manual in detail and
comply with its instructions. The user's manual must be sup-
plied and kept with every system or component.
3. Never use the LCR/LCM/stopfor™ K/stopfor™ B if there are
any doubts concerning its safety. It is recommended that a
visual check is carried out before each use. Destroy any
lanyard which is damaged. Before using a fall-arrest system
(NF EN 363), the user must ensure that all the components
are in correct operating condition: safety system, locking sys-
tem, etc. When installing a safety system, there should not
be any signs of deterioration on any of the safety functions.
4. This device must be inspected annually by a competent per-
son (Tractel® S.A.S. or a repairer approved by Tractel®).
5. Warning: If the system has already served to stop a fall, all of
the equipment must be checked by Tractel® S.A.S or by a
qualified person who must then authorize, in writing, re-use
of the system.
6. The instructions for attaching components together to create
a fall arrest system must be followed in accordance with
standard EN 363.
7. This device is suitable for use on an open air site and for a
temperature range of -40°C to +60°C.
8. During use, the adjustment and attachment elements must
be checked. Check also that the device is not likely to be
damaged by : sharp edges, friction, sources of heat, etc.
9. Tractel® accepts no responsibility for the consequences of
any modification and/or dismantling of the LCR/LCM/stop-
for™ K/stopfor™ B lanyard, or any use, storage or mainte-
nance carried out differently from that described in figure 3.
10. Important : If you are responsible for assigning this equip-
ment to an employee or similar person, ensure that you com-
ply with the applicable health and safety at work regulations.
The concerned equipment can only be used by a single per-
son who has been properly trained or who has the necessa-
ry skills to use this equipment, or who is supervised by a trai-
ned or skilled person.
11. The user must be in good physical and psychological condi-
tion when using this equipment. In case of doubt, contact
your doctor or your occupational health service. This equip-
ment must never be used by pregnant women.
12. No changes or addition should be made to the equipment
without the prior written approval of the manufacturer. Only
belays marked EN 358 should be used as work positioning
lanyards.
13. Do not use the equipment beyond its limits or for any other
purpose other than the purpose for which it is designed: see
"Using the equipment".
14. For user safety, it is essential that the anchor device or point
is correctly positioned and that the work is performed to redu-
ce the risk of fall to a minimum, as well as the possible height
of fall.
15. In a fall-arrest system, the free space under the user at the
worksite must be checked prior to each use of the equip-
ment to ensure, in the event of a fall, that there is no risk hit-
ting the ground, or any obstacle along the fall trajectory.
16. The equipment must be transported and stored in its original
packaging.
17. For user safety, if the product is resold outside the initial
country for which it was intended, the reseller must supply:
operating and service instructions for periodic inspections
and repairs, written in the language of the country in which
the product is to be used.
18. We recommend that each user is assigned a personnel
lanyard, in particular where employed personnel is concer-
ned.
19. The work positioning lanyard must not be used to stop falls.
The work positioning system must be completed with fall pro-
tection devices when working at heights, which may be col-
lective (safety nets, for example), or individual (fall arrest sys-
tem complying with EN 363).

Installation
To use the work positioning lanyard, it must be connected to both
rings on the EN 358 positioning system.
Connect the spring hook on the work positioning lanyard (figure 2.a)
to one of the side attachment points on the belt, and check that the
closing part of the connector is in place.
Connect the other connector to the other side attachment point
on the belt, passing the work positioning lanyard round the sup-
port (figure 2.b).
The anchorage point on the structure must be able to withstand
a load of 10 kN.
Using the equipment
Before using a work positioning lanyard, carry out the following
checks :
Check,
• That the connectors and the adjuster operate correctly and are
not deformed,
• That there are no traces of oxidation,
• That the marking is legible,
• The general condition of the lanyard and the protective sheath.
Follow the instructions below for operating this device :
• The lanyard must be positioned around a tubular support or
another structure before starting to climb.
• Check that the attachments are fully locked.
• Adjust the length of the lanyard so that any free fall will always
be limited to 0.5 m. The adjustment must be performed with the
lanyard tensioned, as the automatic tensioner has been desi-
gned to work with the lanyard tensioned.
• The lanyard must never be positioned at a height below that of
the operator's abdomen (figure 2.b).
CAUTION
The rescue procedures to be set up in the event of a fall
controlled by the stopfor™ must be covered by a programmed
study defining the human and material resources to be imple-
mented to rescue a person within 15 minutes. Beyond this
time, an injured person can be in danger of death.

Pull on the lanyard as indicated in the diagrams (figure 2.c).
Installation – Removal of stopfor™ K/stopfor™ B.
The stopfor™ K/stopfor™ B device can be installed and removed on
line. You must always observe the installation procedure shown in
figure 2.D.
NB : If the type of work to be performed involves supports that
have sharp edges, a protective sheath must be used.
