8. Check the correct fi t of the brace.
– Are the belt straps too tight or do they cut in?
– Is adequate space (approx. 2 cm) available at the upper (cranial) edge of the
back plate so that the patient can sit up?
9. Instruct the patient in putting the BORT Generation Osteoporosis Back Brace on.
4. Next, adjust the combined torso and shoulder belts and
proceed as described above. Before fi nally shortening the
belts, ensure that there is a gap of approx. 3 cm between
the pull loops and the guide loops for the shoulder belts.
5. Pad the shoulder belts in the armpit region using the
enclosed belt pads.
6. To reduce tension to the armpits and avoid strangulation,
you can correct the course of the belt by changing the po-
sition of the dorsal guide loops (attached to the back plate
with Velcro). The level of the costal arch serves as a refe-
rence point.
7. In order to achieve ideal straightening of the patient, then
use the pull loops in sync to tighten the torso and shoulder
belts. Avoid overcorrection!
To reduce tension or remove the brace, tilt the shoulder
belts' guide loops downwards and upwards with your
thumbs as for a rucksack.
