8
1. Shape the aluminium back splint to the contours of the
patient's spine. Ensure suffi cient distance of the back plate
to the body on the upper (cranial) edge to the body (approx.
2 cm). Only with this distance is it possible to straighten the
patient. If required, the back splint can be removed from the
textile cover.
2. Place the brace on the patient, it can be positioned by the
patient like a rucksack, then close the ventral plate. Ensure
correct positioning of the brace, the lower edge must be at
the height of the gluteal fold. The front ventral plate should
be positioned at the height of the pubic bone and not restrict
hip fl exion.
3. Then set the brace belt lengths. Remove the crocodile clasp
ends of the belts and shorten the strap lengths accordingly.
Start with the belt straps on the hip, always tighten the belts
on both sides in sync. After completion, tighten the crocodile
clasp ends and close the belt strap under slight tension. Pay
attention to an appropriate length.
