Always test the chain brake before using your chainsaw and periodically while on the job.
4.13.1- Chain brake – Mechanical Test with the Engine Switched off
Put protective gloves on.
1. The chain brake is disengaged (i.e. chain can move) when
brake lever (3) is pulled backwards and locked towards the
front handle (
Fig.6).
You should be able to move the chain by gloved hands.
2. The chain brake is engaged (chain is locked) when brake
lever (3) is pushed away from the front handle in forward
position (
Fig.6).
You should not be able to move chain.
4.13.2- Chain Brake - Test When the Engine is running
Before starting any work, always test this functionality when the engine is running.
1. Hold the chain saw securely and firmly by the front (11) and rear (7) handles.
2. Start the motor.
3. Press the hand guard (3) toward the front (
motor to stop immediately.
The motor may not start while the chain brake is engaged.
The chainsaw should not be operated, if the chainsaw does not come to a standstill immediately.
Have the chainsaw inspected and checked by a qualified service centre.
WARNING: When the chain brake engages, immediately release the trigger switch (6) to relieve
the engine.
In case of continuous operation, while the brake is engaged, may overheat the clutch
and cause damages.
4.13.3- Chain Brake – Release
To reuse the chainsaw, the chain brake must be released.
