2- Active D r iver booster set setting
Couples of Active D r iver
devices can be organised in booster sets using different operating strategies and
communicating trough a serial interconnection, without any additional component. T h is kind of 2 - unit
installation needs an address setting ("Ad"), whose value must be "1" on one device and "2" on the other
one.
WAR N I N G :
If you set the same "Ad" value on two interconnected Active D r ive rs, there will be no
communication and there could be some regulation malfunctioning.
WAR N I N G :
Correct operation of a multi- channel booster set is possible only if the different channels are
electrically and hydraulically identical.
When communication is not properly working (due to a wrong setting of the "Ad" value, to some wiring
mistake or other causes) the two Active D r iver s will be completely independent one from the other, but they
will show the lack of communication displaying "Go" or "Sb" modes blinking.
When the "Ad" values are correctly set, some regulation parameters are aligned both on the primary and the
secondary Active D r iver . In particular, the following parameters are copied from the former to the latter:

es and the others). If one of the above mentioned parameters' value is changed
on one Active D r iver , it will change on the other Active D r iver , too.
Each time you restart a booster set or when it is simply reset, the values will be aligned.

Eb: booster pump enabling
When two Active D r ivers units are interconnected, if one Active D r iver alone cannot satisfy the user's needs,
it will be possible to activate the two pumps at the same time.

tB: water lack block's reaction time setting
The water lack block's reaction time setting allows to select the time (in seconds) needed by the A c tive
D r iver system to indicate the lack of water in the pump. C h anging this parameter may be useful if there is a
known delay between the moment the pump is turned on and the moment it actually starts delivering.
E x a mple:
a system with a particularly long suction pipe or with some little leakages. In this case, it can
happen that the suction pipe unloads when the system is in stand by, even if there is some water in, and that
the pump takes some time to reload, deliver flow and bring pressure to the system.
5 . 1 . 3 . 2
t1 :
R u nning time after low pressure signal (kiwa)
This time is only active when the input is set to 3 or 4 .
If a low pressure event is detected, as indicated on input 1 , the A C T IV E D R I V E R waits for the interval t1
and then shuts down, displaying F 1 . R e set
manual by pressing + and - simultaneously.
5 . 1 . 3 . 3
t2 : D e lay time in event of shutdown conditions
The setting of the delay time in the event of shutdown conditions enables the selection of the time interval
after which the A C T IV E D R I V E R switches off the pump when shutdown conditions are present (in seconds).
N O T E :
If the A C T IV E D R I V E R S are used, configured in communication mode and set to restart according to
K i wa standards, the minimum pressure switch m ust be connected to input 1 of both inverters and the
parameters " i 1 " , " t 1 " and " t 2 " m ust be manually aligned.

GP: PI's proportional coefficient setting
A c tive D r iver
parameters can be changed according to the behaviour of the different hydraulic system types. F o r most system
values of GP and GI parameters are the best ones.
5 . 1 . 3 . 5
GI: integral coefficient setting
": Eb: booster
The GI value should be increased, i f a big pressure fall happens due to a quick increase of the flow or to a
slow response of the system. O n the other hand, decrease the GI value, if there are
around the set point value.

may be automatic when the correct pressure is restored, or
calculated as a function of the mentioned error values. The control action's behaviour depends on the set GP and GI parameters. The
If there are some regulation problems , these settings may be modified.
If the A c tive D r iver
is far away from the pump, hydraulic elasticity affects the PI control and,
as a consequence, pressure regulation. This is a typical case in which a decrease of the GI
value is needed.
To obtain a satisfactory pressure regulation, you usually need to adj u st both GP and GI.
