3.4 Fastenings
The locking function of the joint bar system must never be obstructed by
closures of the attachment straps or knee pads.
3.5 Setting-up the joints
Use 633F7 Special Lubricant to grease the metal moving parts. All screw
heads must be secured with 636K13 Loctite.
4 Adjustments and application
4.1 Documentation
To ensure traceability in terms of the product liability as provided by law, the
article number and batch number must be entered into patient's medical chart.
4.2 Activity level
The Knee Joints were designed exclusively as an anatomical support/
walking aid. They are not suited for excessive strain such as sports activi-
ties, gardening or other similar activities (lifting and carrying heavy objects,
among other things) which would involve heavy physical strain.
4.3 Locking knee joints
The knee joints with locks such as ring, bale and lever are delivered ready for use.
No further adjustments are necessary on the locking mechanism or knee joint.
To ensure a safe function, the bale arms should not be rigidly connected to
each other in bale lock knee joints.
INFORMATION
Before handing over an orthosis with bale lock knee joints, check that the
locks are fully engaged and instruct the patient how to use the orthosis.
5 Maintenance and service
Use only 633F7 Special Lubricant as a lubricant.
The knee joint mechanism should be protected from dirt by a suitable pro-
tective device (e.g. joint protectors) for proper functioning of the orthosis.
Service Kits (fig. 1–3) are available for the knee joints:
