in the frontal plane.

1.4 Function
The connection between the leg bars and the pel-
vic module is especially important for fittings with
reciprocating gait orthoses.
The RGO hip joint system was developed spe-
cifically for a largely physiological rotation of the
pelvis when walking. A bi-axial axis design allows
for a pelvic rotation of 15° while maintaining the
foot position in the walking direction while wal-
king. This leads to greater freedom of movement
and improved mobility for the user (see Fig. 1/2).
The following special features distinguish the Ot-
tobock RGO Hip Joint System
• Easy to use modular system.
• Replacing individual components allows the
orthosis to "grow" with the user.
• Lightweight alloy pelvic tube with high torsio-
nal strength allows for modular connection of
joints.
• The bi-axial axis system allows for a pelvic ro-
tation of 15° in the orthosis without changing
the walking direction.
• Smooth and maintenance-free power trans-
mission during walking through the push-pull
cable system.
• Sitting joint lock release with pre-release of the
locking mechanism.
• Safety button for re-locking in case of acciden-
tal pre-release of the sitting joint.
• Choice of thermoplastic or laminate materials
for the integration of an individually fabricated
pelvic module.
• Torso bar is easily disassembled.
• Torso bar hip flexion adjusts by up to 10°.
• Prefabricated lightweight alloy thigh bars with
0 mm, 5 mm and 10 mm offset available.
• The thigh bar is easy to connect to and discon-
nect from the hip joint.
