3 Functional description
HAT 3800 is an absolute measuring singleturn angle sensor for highly precise rotational
angle measurement in mobile machines.
The functioning method of the angle sensor is based on a contactless magnetic
scanning. The sensor system consists of two components: the magnetically encoded
disc (pole disc) which is mounted free of backlash inside of the shaft, and the sensor
component.
By means of two sensors, mounted with an offset of 180° with integrated Hall sensor
elements, the sensor detects the rotational angle of the shaft. An intelligent electronic
evaluation unit converts the values into an electrical signal.

The digitized measured value is provided to the CAN field bus system via the CANopen-
Safety protocol.

The HAT 3000 angle sensor series are subjected to individual calibration and final testing
on a computer operated test station. They are maintenance-free and operate perfectly
when used according to the specifications (see Technical Data).
However, if there is a cause for complaint, please contact HYDAC Service. Interference
by anyone other than HYDAC personnel will invalidate all warranty claims.
