Temperature controller and safety temperature limiter
T-M-20-S/+x+y/EX
The T-M-20-S/+x+y/EX is used for temperature control of electrical heaters in industrial plants.
The T-M-20-S/+x+y/EX consists of a mechanical thermostat and an additional mechanical safety
temperature limiter. Because of it's high breaking capacity it is suitable for direct connection of
the heating cables to the power. The controller is approved for use in hazardous area Zone 1 and
Zone 2.
1. Safety instructions
The T-M-20-S/+x+y/EX is not suitable for use in Zone 0. During operation, do not leave this
Instruction Manual or other objects inside the enclosure.
Use the thermostat and limiter only for its intended purpose and only in clean, undamaged
condition.
Do not make any modifications to the temperature controller and limiter that are not expressly
mentioned in this Instruction Manual.
It is not admissible to open the internal thermostat case. Explosion protection will be lost. It is not
admissible to open the lid in zones 21 and 22. Cutting through or kinking the capillary will lead to
permanent device failure. When routing the capillary ensure a bending radius of ≥ 5 mm. Liquid
may escape in the event of a measuring system fracture.
Whenever work is done on the thermostat and limiter, be sure to observe the national safety
and accident prevention regulations and the safety instructions given in this Instruction Manual,
