USE: (Refer to Figure 7.)
Step 1.
After the counterweight has been assembled per the procedure in Sections 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5
the system must be leveled. Using the leveling jacks (Model 8564496) or adjustable pole legs
(Models 8562894), level the system and verify using the level bubble (A).
Step 2.
Once level, counterweight must be applied to the system. To determine the type and amount of
counterweight for your configuration, please refer to Figure 8.
This system requires that the correct amount of counter weight be installed to prevent overturning
WARNING:
during use. Failure to apply the correct amount of counterweight may result in serious injury or death.
What to use for weight - Only 44 lb (20 Kg) or 50 lbs (22 .5 Kg) steel weight-lifting plates
IMPORTANT:
are approved for use with the 3M Counterweight Base. Each plate MUST bear permanent manufacturer's
identification of weight. Plates MUST NOT be more than 1 1/2 inch (38.1 mm) thick with a minimum 1-1/16
inch (27 mm) center hole. It is required, where possible, to install an equal number of weight plates on each of
the 4 weight mount poles. When the specified number of weight plates does not allow this, extra plates MUST
BE installed on the weight mount poles furthest from the mast sleeve.
To apply the counterweight plates, remove the security nuts (B) from the weight mount poles (C). Remove the
top plates (D) from the weight mount poles. Stack the weight plates (E) evenly onto the weight mount poles. Re-
install the top plates and security nuts to secure the weight plates into position.
Step 3.
Recheck the assembly to make certain that it is level, that all feet are contacting the work surface
firmly, and that the correct amount of counterweight is installed.
Step 4:
The final step prior to system use is to assemble and install the Davit Arm Assembly.
The Davit Arm Assembly should be configured and operated in accordance with the Davit Arm
user instruction.
Step 5:
Place the Davit Arm Assembly into the davit sleeve (F). If any mast extensions are allowed
/ required, make sure they are inserted prior to the davit arm. Secure the davit into position using
the locking tri-screw (G)
Do not exceed the loading and / or mast extension restrictions set forth in the Davit Arm instruction
