English
This means that the motor can also be used in areas
where protection classes "Explosion-proof, Class 1,
Division 2" are required.
Danger of explosion!
The housing of the hydraulics must be fully sub-
merged and flooded (completely filled with the
pumped liquid) during operation. If the housing
is not submerged and/or there is air in the
hydraulics, flying sparks may cause an explosion
e.g. due to static charge! Ensure that dry-run
protection is in place for switching off.
4.4.1 FM labeling
FM
APPROVED
The explosion coding indicates the following:
(Cl. = class)
• Cl. 1 = gases, vapor, mist
Division 1 = explosive atmosphere constantly present
or occasionally present under normal conditions
Groups C, D = gas groups: ethylene (C), propane (D)
• Cl. 2 = dust
Division 1 = explosive atmosphere constantly present
or occasionally present under normal conditions
Groups E, F, G = dust groups: metal (E), coal (F),
cereal (G)
• Cl. 3 = fibers and lint
• T3C = max. surface temperature of the machine 320 °F
(160 °C)
The type plate also shows the information on the max-
imum submersion depth and the maximum tempera-
ture of the pumped fluid.
4.4.2 "Explosion-proof" protection class
Motors with this protection type are equipped with a
temperature control system.
The temperature control system should be con-
nected in such a manner that, if the temperature
limiter is triggered, it can only be switched back
on after the release button has been manually
activated.
4.5 Explosion protection certification number
• KS 5Ex, KS 6Ex, KS 16Ex: LCIE 99 ATEX 1156
4.6 Operating modes
4.6.1 Operating mode "S1" (continuous operation)
The pump can operate continuously at the rated load
without exceeding the maximum permissible tempera-
ture.
4.6.2 Siphoning operation
Siphoning operation is similar to dry running. The
product operates at full speed, but only small amounts
of liquid are pumped.
34
The KS series is suitable for siphoning operation when
used outside explosion hazard areas.
Beware of hot housing components!
When used for siphoning operation, housing
components can heat up to well above 40 °C.
There is a danger of burns to hands. After
switching it off, let the machine cool down to
ambient temperature!
Danger of explosion!
When used for siphoning operation, the hydrau-
lic housing is not completely filled with pumped
liquid. This can lead to flying sparks. Siphoning
operation is strictly forbidden in explosion haz-
ard areas!
