Sideways loads
Sideways loads should be avoided, as the product was not designed for this purpose.
If sideways loads cannot be avoided, then the following reductions to the working load
(WLL) must be taken into account:
Angle of load
0 °
45 °
90 °
The load flush with the centre axis of the shackle body stresses the bolt at an angle of 90°
(in relation to the bolt's centre axis). The loading in the table are the angles that differ from
a load along the shackle body's centre axis.
If you use a shackle combined with multiple strands, you should pay careful attention to the
angle between the strands. If this angle increases, then so does the load on each individual
strand and accordingly on each shackle attached.
