SULPHATÉD OR DAMAGED BATTERIES
GYSTART devices cannot detect sulphated or damaged batteries.
a) Your battery is deeply damaged if, during the charging process, the ammeter's needle points quickly to very high
level. In this case, it is not possible to restore it.
b) In case of a sulphated battery : Switch to the highest charge rate and regularly check if the ammeter indicates any
charge current. As soon as the charge current increases, switch to the charge rate suitable for the battery. If there
is no sign of current increase after 5 hours the battery is irrecoverable.
ANOMALIES, REASONS, REMEDIES

CAUSES
Power supply problem
Clamps in short-circuit or polarity
reversal
The battery is deeply damaged
Voltage problem (12V or 24V)
Thermal protection mode is acti-
vated:
The battery is sulphated or one of
its elements has short-circuited.
The amperage control is set to
maximum
The battery is deeply discharged
Voltage problem (12V or 24V)
Some elements of the battery have
short-circuited
You are attempting to start the
vehicle when it is in Charge mode.
You are attempting to start the
vehicle without using the remote
control switch.
You are attempting to charge a 12V
battery whilst in 24V mode
REMEDES
Check the mains supply
Check that the device is in charge
mode
Check the fuses have not blown and
the circuit breaker is not depressed.
Check the state of the batttery with
a volt meter. If the voltage doesn't
reach 2.5V per cell instantaneously,
the battery could be sulphated or
damaged.
Check that the voltage switch is in
the appropriate position (12 or 24V)
Wait for the unit to cool down before
retrying (approx 5 - 10 mins)
Change the battery or try to recover
it on manual charge by turning the
control to maximum - switch back to
automatic mode as soon as the cur-
rent starts to rise.
Set the Amperage control to 1/10 of
the battery capacity.
Maintain the charge by setting the
unit to minimum.
Check that the voltage switch is in
the appropriate position (12 or 24V)
Change battery
Ensure the switch is on « Start »
mode or you will damage the unit.
Reset the circuit breaker (except
Gystart 1224T)
You must push the remote control
button or you will damage the unit.
Reset the circuit breaker.
Turn the voltage switch to 12V.
