4. Assembly and Startup

In order to comply with UL, use copper cables that are designed for operating temperatures of 75°C. For
reliable and shock-proof contacts, strip the connection ends:

4.1. Parameters and connector assignment for the
RJ 45 parameterization interface
Before startup, the PSR-RSM4 must be configured in
line with the application.
You will require the PSR-CONF-WIN1.0 configuration
software and a computer with one of the following
operating systems: Windows 98, Windows ME,
Windows 2000, Windows XP.
You will find detailed installation and parameterization
instructions in the online manual on the software CD.

4.2. Mounting the proximity switches

Rule out cross circuiting between the
initiators, e.g. by installing the conductors
accordingly.
4.2.1. Conditions with respect to gear wheel or
gear rack:
The design of the gear wheel or gear rack is of particular
importance for safe operation:
The surface of the gear wheel must always be greater
than the gap between the teeth. This guarantees that at
least one proximity switch is actuated.
4.2.2. Arrangement of the proximity switches

4.3. Operating mode prefix I1, I2, I3, MI

The choice of monitored frequency is
determined by inputs I1, I2, I3 and MI.
It may be necessary in an application for
several terminals to carry 24 V. The following
diagram shows the priorities at the terminals
and at I1 - MI.
Rule out cross circuiting between
the input terminals (MI, I1 - I3),
e.g. by installing the conductors
accordingly.
Fig. 3
There is a delay of 500 ms when switching the inputs from a higher priority to a lower one
(MI
I3)! There is no delay when switching in the opposite direction.
Operating mode "Mute" (24 V at terminal MI) switches off speed monitoring. Contacts
13-14, 23-24 are permanently in operating position!
If none of the input terminals (MI, I1 - I3) are occupied, monitoring is carried out at con-
tacts 13-14, 23-24 with the parameterized downtime speed.

5. Connection examples

Fig. 4
Rule out shaft breaks between encoder and drive.
Use only appropriate encoders!
5.1. Speed and downtime monito-
ring using an encoder
Manual activation with start button on
S33/S34.
Automatic activation with bridge on
S33/S35.
Suitable up to safety category 3, SIL3.
5.2. Dual-channel speed and
downtime monitoring
using two proximity switches
Manual activation with start button on
S33/S34.
