8 Maintenance
Have your chimney flue swept by specialists at least twice per year, including once during the heating season.
At this time, have the entire appliance and the connection duct cleaned and checked by a competent professional who:
•
Thoroughly cleans the stove and checks the connections of the different pieces.
•
Replaces any worn components as necessary (door and burner seals, in particular)
If the stove is not used for a long period of time, check there are no obstructions in the flue prior to turning it on.
WARNING when performing maintenance, turn the main switch to (0) so that it does not come on. The
appliance must be off for more than one hour. Make sure there are no glowing pellets, which could be a fire
hazard when cleaning. The different elements of the appliance may remain hot for a long time. Make sure
that the appliance is sufficiently cooled before touching any parts to prevent burns.
REMINDER: The location of the appliance must allow easy cleaning of the appliance, the connection duct, and
the flue duct.
Window
8.1
To clean the glass of your appliance, wait until the appliance has completely cooled down.
•
Use a paper towel or soft, dry cloth to avoid scratching the glass
•
Gently wipe to easily remove any residue on the glass.
WARNING do not use spray cleaners on the window. They can permanently damage the painted cast iron
surfaces of the appliance!
Combustion chamber
8.2
To prevent ash from overflowing from the appliance when opening the door, you must clean the combustion chamber
with a granular ash vacuum at least twice per week.
WARNING The appliance must be turned off and cooled down. Ashes that look cool can still be very hot even
after turning off the appliance!
