Reassembling the fluid pump
1.
Loosen the packing nut and make sure that the piston
rod is at the topmost position of the fluid pump hou-
sing. Push the sleeve over the piston rod.
2. Slide one of the retaining rings through the packing
nut and place the sleeve on top.
3. Connect the connecting rod to the fluid pump by
assembling the coupling halves. Slide the sleeve over
the coupling halves and secure it in place using reta-
ining rings.
4. Remove the retaining ring from the packing nut and
insert it into the coupling halves.
5. Secure the fluid pump housing onto the connecting
rods and loosely tighten the locking nuts and washers.
6. Tighten the locking nuts on the connecting rods even-
ly with a torque of 41 Nm (30 ft/lbs).
NOTE:
Assembly and disassembly of the coupling,
which is necessary for aligning the two connecting rods,
should be easy when the locking nuts have been firmly
tightened. If the piston seizes, all of the locking nuts on
the connecting rods are to be loosened and re-tightened
and the alignment improved. Incorrect alignment will
result in premature wear of the seal and packing ele-
ments.
7. Tighten the packing nut in clockwise direction until a
resistance can be felt on the packing nut. The tighte-
ning torque of the packing nut amounts to 8,47 Nm.
8. Start the pump and operate it slowly (at low speed) to
check whether the piston rod has been set correctly. If
necessary, adjust the nuts on the connecting rods to
prevent it from seizing.
9. Vent the pump and allow it to run for a few minutes
at full pressure; then reduce the pressure and repeat
step 7.
10. Fill five drops of TSO into the wet container (packing
nut).
