Poor spray pattern
Problem
Cause
Coarse, untidy spray
Insufficient pressure
pattern, stripes
Excessive spray mist
Pressure too high, material is of
too low a viscosity
Spray width too large
Nozzle with too large a spraying
angle used
Spray width too nar-
Nozzle with too small a spraying
row
angle used
Excessive application
Nozzle with too large an opening
of coating material
used
Material is of too low a viscosity,
pressure is too high
Insufficient application
Nozzle too small
of coating material
Spray pattern crooked
Nozzle worn or incorrect nozzle
in the middle
used
Excessive layer thick-
Excessive material viscosity
ness with "skin forma-
tion"
Elevations where the
Excessive material viscosity
spray pattern overlaps
Non-targeted and une-
Nozzle clogged or defective

Clogged filter
Contaminated coating material,
solid particles in the coating mate-
rial
Accumulations of
Insufficient distance from the coa-
paint on the nozzle
ting surface, pressure is too high
holder
Formation of drops at

the nozzle outlet
defective or worn
Nozzle clogs frequent-
Contaminated coating material,

no gun filter or too coarse a filter
used
Repairing the pressure regulator
Motor controller card diagnostics
Before performing maintenance work on the controller card, relieve the pressure and unplug the mains plug on the
spraying unit. Read the depressurisation section on chapter 4 for details.
NOTE:
Keep a new pressure sensor handy for this test.
INSTRUCTIONS:
The spraying device must never build up fluid pressure if no pressure sensor is installed. Keep the ventilation/pressure
relief valve open while using the test pressure sensor.
1.
Remove the four screws and the cover.
2. Turn the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
Remedy
Increase pressure
Reduce pressure, dilute material less
Use a nozzle with a smaller spraying angle
Use a nozzle with a larger spraying angle
Use a smaller nozzle
Use a smaller nozzle
Reduce pressure
Use a larger nozzle
Insert a new nozzle or use a nozzle with a narrower
spray width
Reduce viscosity of material, use a smaller nozzle
Reduce material viscosity
Clean nozzle carefully or replace
Clean the filter, insert a coarser filter if permitted by
the size of the nozzle
Increase the distance, reduce the pressure
Replace the needle and seat
Sift the coating material, insert a (coarser) gun filter
