The following points must be observed when filling the system:
Untreated filling water and make-up water must be of drink-
ing water quality.
(colourless, clear, free of sediments)
Filling water and make-up water must be pre-filtered (max.
pore size 5 µm).
Scale formation in domestic hot water heating systems cannot be
completely avoided, but in systems with flow temperatures below
60 °C, the problem can be disregarded. The following standard
values should be adhered to regarding the filling and make-up
water according to VDI 2035, sheet 1:

The buffer tank and heating system must be filled via the filling
and drain cock on the indoor unit. The cylinder must be purged
using the air-relief cock on the upper pipe connection to the cyl-
inder.
When fully purging the indoor unit, the 3-way mixer valve must be
set manually to the "middle position" (reset once purging is com-
plete).
NOTE
If the unit is connected to an existing hydraulic water circuit, the
hydraulic pipes must be cleaned to remove residues and limescale.
A suitable purging facility must also be installed in the heating cir-
cuit on site.
It is also recommended to install a shut-off device in the return
before integration into the indoor unit is carried out.
Where necessary, heating connection pipes for the heat pump
can also be laid underneath the cylinder, at its rear.
To integrate a second (external) heat generator in the heating
water circuit, it is necessary to cut out the thinned material area
underneath the unit cover.

The copper pipe link cable (in the flow direction) before the elec-
tric heating must also be removed. If the electric heating is to re-
main in the heating water circuit, the radiator must be turned ap-
proximately 18° - 20° towards the cylinder. This is necessary to
ensure that connection can take place without obstruction (with
pipe bend 28 and cap nut).
If the electric heating is to be removed from the heating circuit,
the heating pipes are connected directly to the thread connec-
tions 1 1/4" with a flat sealing connection. In this case, the con-
nected flow pipe should be fixed in the area where the radiator
mounting used to be (weld-free and secure).
Minimum heating water flow rate
The minimum heating water flow rate through the heat pump
must be assured in all operating statuses of the heating system
(see "Device information", Chapt. 13). When the minimum flow
rate is undershot, the plate heat exchanger in the refrigeration
circuit can freeze, which can lead to total loss of the heat pump.
Frost protection
A method of manual drainage must be provided for heat pump in-
ternal components which are exposed to frost. The frost protec-
tion function of the heat pump manager is active whenever the
heat pump manager and the heat circulating pump are ready for
operation. The system has to be drained if the heat pump is
taken out of service or if a power failure occurs. The hydraulic
network should be operated with suitable frost protection if heat
pump systems are implemented in buildings where a power fail-
ure cannot be detected (vacation homes etc.).
NOTE
Chemical treatment to protect from rust should be carried out by the
installer.
