VTM : a bearing unit designed with ampli dimensioned ball bearing is
placed between motor and matting flange. This design allows a length of
more than 1920 mm under base plate. Ball bearings are lubricated by
grease and shaft coupling is semi-elastic type.
Rod centering assy :
A plain bearing is located in the pump casing. Three types are available :
SiC, Bronze or a compound SS + V102.
Other bearings are installed in intermediate flanges to guide pump rod
correctly.
Note that for a size "O" = 1620 a bearing is necessary..
Bearing accessories.
Plain bearing cannot run dry. If dry running can occur then an external
lubrication is necessary.
Intermediate bearing lubrication can be done using pumped fluid if it is
clear (a branch pipe is then connecting pump volute to bearing(s)).
Grease or an external flushing with water or compatible fluid can be
used. In this case inlet pressure must be higher than discharge pressure
(0,5 to 1 bar).
3.3 SHAFT COUPLINGS
There are two types of couplings depending on pump design :
- Rigid coupling, fastened to motor shaft and pump rod. It allows an
accurate lining of pump unit. For adjustment refer to section 4-1.
- Semi-Elastic coupling, from WILO or purchased on request.
Coupling guard must not be removed. WILO declines all
responsibilities if someone is injured after the coupling guard has been
removed.
3.4 DRIVE – DIRECTION OF ROTATION.
CEI motors can be installed on this pump. Frame is V1 or V18 type.
Direction of rotation is clockwise for an observer watching NDE side of
motor. Direction of rotation is indicated on upper flange or on motor
pedestal.
3.5 OPTIONS.
NORMA V pumps can be equipped with several options such as :
A strainer.
It is necessary if liquid particle contain is higher than permitted. It can
be supplied with an integrated non-return valve.
A pipe extension.
A suction pipe extension can be added on suction flange. Suction level
can be brought down from one meter maximum.
A base plate.
A matting plate supporting the pump and the discharge pipe can be
provided for an easy installation on pit.
A discharge pipe.
Linear speed of fluid inside this pipe must not exceed 3 m/s.
It must be equipped with a non-return valve if static pressure exceeds
10mwc or if piping length is important.
Use nominal diameter of pipe according to pump discharge flange
nominal diameter or larger. In order to minimise pressure loss in
discharge pipe, its diameter should be at least the same as pump
discharge flange.
A pressure gauge should be installed on discharge pipe before first
valve to check pump working pressure. This pressure indication will
allow flow adjustment (use the pump curve supplied with technical
documentation).
3.6 NAME PLATE
Pump nameplate is fastened on base plate or on motor pedestal and
indicates hydraulic characteristics of pump, serial number. That
information is necessary for every spare parts quotations.
