DISMANTLING
PROCEDURE.
Assemble pump only with genuine pump parts. Warranty will not be
valid if other components are used. Before dismantling or assembly of
pump check that following documents are available on the area :
sectional drawing, parts list, and maintenance manual. Identify pump
parts when removed from pump.

7.1 BEFORE DISMANTLING:

 Read safety rules of site. Respect all specific rules if any.
 Switch down pump electric power supply and check that no one can
put power on while some is working on pump or near power cables.
 Close shut-off valve and isolate the pump.
 Remove discharge flange fastening bolts.
 Lift the pump out of the tank (or pit ...) and lean the pump down on the
safe and clean dismantling area.
 Identify pump part and note chronological order of dismantling.
 Flush the pump with clean liquid.

7.2 PUMP DISMANTLING.

Your pump may not include some options. In this case see section
after.
Note :
Dismantle external lubrication piping if there is an intermediate bearing
in pump.
 Pump should be horizontal for dismantling. Clamp the pump so that it
cannot rotate on itself. (pumps equipped with a flange type base plate).
 Remove the strainer and the discharge pipe.
 Remove the pump caising. You have now access to the impeller.
 Unscrew the impeller nut(s) and slide out the impeller.
 Remove cover fastening bolts (or nuts).
 Slide out the casing cover coming with its bearing and put it down. If
the pump is equipped with a Sic bearing assy. slide the cover with care.
Bearing is very fragile.
To remove a bronze or a compound bearing:
 Use a hub puller.
VCS and VEM types :
 Remove protecting cover.
 Remove the 3 half coupling fastening screws.
 Remove motor fastening screws or bolts and lay down the motor.
 Slide out the pump rod from motor side.
 Remove the two half coupling if necessary.
VTM type :
 Remove motor fastening screws (or bolts) and remove the motor. It
comes with its half coupling.
 Remove bearing bracket fastening screws and pull out the pump rod.
 A nut stops ball bearing assembly.
 Loosen fastening nut from coupling and remove the washer.
Remove the half coupling and then the key.
 Remove the spacer and the lip seal from bracket upper cover plate.
 Remove the 4 fastening screws from upper cover plate.
AND
ASSEMBLY
 Remove the cover plate.
 Remove the 6 screws from the lower bracket cover plate.
 Remove the lower cover plate
 Remove the pump rode.
 Check wear and general shape of impeller, rod and plain bearings and
sleeves.
Wear on those parts will intend to decrease pump characteristics.
Assembly of pump will be very difficult is worn parts are not replaced. If
any doubt, replacement of pump parts is necessary.

7.3 PUMP ASSEMBLY.

 Check internal pump parts adjustment. Check for example assembly of
impeller on rod end or slide a bearing onto the rod to check any burrs or
buckling of rod.
 Soften with abrasive every burrs on rod and on key ways Check motor
shaft and half couplings too.
 Check keys and key and clean them. Remove deposits, rust and dust.
 Clean all pump parts with a rag and then slightly oil them.
 Stop external screws with glue.
 Change all gaskets.
If you have removed the bearing
 Put it back in its housing. Use an hydraulic press for bronze and
compound bearings.
If you have changed the pump rod :
CS and EM types:
 Dismantle the two half couplings.
 Face of rod and back face of half coupling have to be aligned.
 Mark pump rod through the two tapped holes and drill the rod. Tight
the stop screws.
WARNING ! It is necessary to let a gap of 0,5 to 0,7 mm between
impeller and volute. Drill holes in the pump rod only when you are sure
that rod is correctly located into the half coupling.
 Remove the half coupling and assemble the two half coupling
together.
 Do not forget to put back the protecting cover.
 Assemble motor equipped with the couplings on pump upper flange.
 Slide pump rod in the half coupling and fasten stop screws.
 Slide the pump pipe on the pump rod.
 Assemble flange adaptor and casing cover C/W bearing on lower pump
flange.
 Tight impeller nuts.
 Assemble volute and casing cover.
 Assemble discharge pipe and matting flange. Don't forget to put a
gasket between pump discharge flange and pipe.
 Make sure that pump rod rotates freely.
 Put protecting cover back on pump.
