Connection

4.2.1 Connecting the InPro 6900 to a VP cable

Sensors with ISM functionality require the use of a spe-
cial VP-8 cable as well as an ISM-compatible O
mitter. The sensor is connected to the transmitter via a
VP cable. The VP cable ensures a secure connection
between the transmitter and the sensor under harsh in-
dustrial conditions. The robust watertight IP68 connec-
tor housing guarantees maximum process safety.
If you have chosen to use a sensor with ISM function-
ality, the VP connector will incorporate an EEPROM
chip. It is absolutely necessary to protect this electron-
ic component against any electrical charge.
Do not touch the sensor at the VP connector plug.
To connect the VP cable to the sensor align the slit of
the VP connector with the pin in the plug. Then tightly
screw the plug to fasten the two parts.
