Selecting between Specimen
Mover Plates and Holders
Using the Specimen Mover Disc
for Single Specimens
Prepamatic-2
Instruction Manual
Prepamatic-2 can be used to prepare both single specimens and
those clamped into specimen holders.
When using a specimen holder, 3 specimens need to be prepared at
a time. As they are clamped in a holder these specimens do not have
to have a regular shape, but should have similar surface areas.
For the preparation of 1 or 2 specimens, single specimen mode must
be used. Here regular, round specimens are required.
Specimen mover discs are available for specimens in 25, 30, 40 and
50 mm dia. and in 1", 1
The specimen mover discs for 25mm /1", 30mm /1¼" and 40 mm
/1½" diameter specimens are identical. By using the correct plastic
inserts (white for metric, black for imperial) they are set to the correct
size.
First, the specimens have to be pre-levelled in the pre-levelling
device, see Fig.
Place the specimen in the opening with the correct diameter.
Place a stainless steel ring with a corresponding diameter over
the specimen.
Use the Allen key to clamp the specimen securely. Make sure
that both screws are tightened equally.
Place the head with the specimen mover plate in the levelling
device.
Insert the specimens into the specimen mover plate.
Move the pressure feet down onto the specimens.
Secure the pressure feet by tightening the screws.
Insert the head with the specimen mover plate in
Prepamatic-2.
¼
" and 1½" dia.
