10.4.12.2 Refilling coolant in the expansion tank
1 Connecting nipple long
2 Hose to the radiator
3 Connecting nipple short
4 Deaeration hose
Check filling level while the motor is cold.
Remove the lid of the equalising reservoir.
Refill the expansion tank.
Note
The correct coolant level is between the upper and the
lower marking.
Close the lid for the equalising reservoir.
Note
Ensure that both hoses are attached to the radiator
cover.
The hose from the radiator must be connected to the
long connecting nipple.
The ventilation hose must be attached to the short con-
necting nipple.
Start the engine and let it warm up.
Check the filling level in the coolant expansion tank.
If the coolant level is too low, switch off the motor and
allow it to cool down. Pour the missing amount of cool-
ant into the coolant expansion tank.
Note
Excessive coolant level is automatically regulated in
the expansion tank.
10.4.12.3 Refilling coolant in the radiator
1 Cover radiator cap
2 Radiator lid
WARNING
Risk of burns!
Do not open or touch the radiator or parts of the cooling
system while the motor is hot.
Fold out the cover of the radiator cap.
Turn the radiator cover by one catch and release the
pressure from the radiator.
If the radiator is depressurised, unscrew the radiator
cap.
Fill the radiator slowly all the way to the top without bub-
bles.
Screw down the radiator cap.
Refill the coolant expansion tank. See Chapter "Refill-
ing coolant in the expansion tank".
