OVERVIEW
IGbT - A bipolar transistor with insulated gate elect-
IGbT
rode (english Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor, short
IGBT) is a semiconductor device that is used increasingly
in power electronics, as there advantages of the bipolar
transistor (eg, good transmission behavior, high blocking
voltage, robustness when welding equipment) and the
advantages of a field effect transistor (almost power-free
control) combined. Advantageously, a certain robustness
against short circuits, since the IGBT is limited to the
load current. IGBTs are a further development of the
vertical power MOSFET.
HIGH POWER - These devices use a 3-phase connec-
tion (400V +/- 10%).

EARTH CONNECTION – At the back-side of the
welding device is a screw, and a mark to make the requi-
red ground connection. Before operation, it is necessary
that the case of the welding machine gets grounded via
cable. The diameter must not be less than 6 mm, to con-
nect with the earth, in order to prevent potential prob-
lems caused by leakage of electricity.
COVER GAS - For the MIG/MAG welding a cover or
active gas is necessary
