10. Unbalance minimization
If great unbalance is measured at the wheel (e.g. static
unbalance greater than 50 g), it is advisable to perform
wheel matching by using the unbalance of the rim to
provide compensation for the static unbalance of the
tire (unbalance minimization). The first step involves
turning the tire through 180 degrees on the rim. Additi-
onal minimization can then be achieved by turning the
tire further. The matching program provides assistance
with this minimization process.
!
Work as accurately as possible throughout the entire
procedure.
i
The matching program must be implemented again
if the error messages
display.
i
The matching program can be terminated by pres-
sing the <OPT> key.

Sound and automatic start are active in the following
description (refer to Section 11).

Step 3:
Turning of tire on rim
i
To turn the tire on the rim it may be necessary to
deflate the tire, unseat it again and re-inflate after
turning.
1. Turn the wheel until the valve is in the 12 o'clock
position.
2. Press the <SPLIT> key.
The reference position of the wheel is stored on
initial starting.

3. Make a reference mark on the tire (at the position of
the valve).
4. Detach the wheel from the flange.

5. Turn the tire through 180 degrees on the rim such
that the mark previously made is opposite the valve.
Step 4:
Storage of new position
1. Secure the wheel.
2. Turn the valve to the 12 o'clock position.
3. Press the <SPLIT> key.

The following values are displayed on pressing the
<SPLIT> key:
Left display: Minimum residual unbalance
Right display: Static current unbalance value
i
If the static unbalance value is close to the minimum
residual unbalance (less than 10 g), minimization
can be terminated by pressing the <OPT> key.
Step 6: Further turning of tire on rim
1. Turn the wheel until the balancing position LED
lights in green.
2. Make a reference mark on the tire (at the 12 o'clock
position).
3. Detach the wheel from the flange.
4. Turn the tire on the rim such that the mark previous-
ly made is at the location of the valve.
5. Secure the wheel.
6. Turn the valve to the 12 o'clock position.
7. Press the <SPLIT> key.
The new position of the wheel on the flange is
stored.
