1) Wash the motor body using fresh
water. (Refer to the section "MOTOR
EXTERIOR" for details.)
2) Remove the fuel-line connection(s) or
shut off the fuel cock, if equipped.
3) Run the engine at idling speed sup-
plying fresh water to flush the cool-
ing-water passages until the fuel sys-
tem becomes empty and the engine
stops. (Refer to the section "FLUSH-
ING COOLING SYSTEM" for details.)
4) Remove the battery for electric start
models. (Refer to the section "DIS-
CONNECTING THE BATTERY" for
details.)
5) Drain the cooling water completely
out of the motor.
Clean the body thoroughly.

Flushing Cooling System

Do not run the engine without supplying
the engine cooling water. Either the
engine water pump will be damaged or
the engine will overheat and be dam-
aged. Before starting the engine, supply
water to the cooling water passage.
