An older version of the Fusion-MPT Linux driver is bundled in Linux

kernels 2.4.7 and higher. Delete the original driver tree (normally
located in
/usr/src/linux
# cd /usr/src/linux
# rm -rf drivers/message/fusion
Add the Fusion-MPT driver source. The driver layout is not the same

for all driver source versions. Follow the instructions for your driver
version
• Procedure for driver versions less than or equal to 2.05.00.

Unpack the Fusion-MPT Linux driver source tar archive from the
root of the Linux kernel source tree. To do so, type:
# tar xvfz /tmp/mptlinux-2.01.00-src.tar.gz
• Procedure for driver versions greater than 2.05.00.
a Unpack the Fusion-MPT Linux driver source tar archive into a
temporary workspace. To do so, type:
$ mkdir Tmp
$ cd Tmp
$ tar xzvf /tmp/mptlinux-2.05.01-src.tar.gz
b Install the driver. To do so, type:
$ su root
# cd drivers/message/fusion
# ./install <kernel>
For example, to update the driver source in the kernel tree
/usr/src/linux-2.4.20, then
# ./install /usr/src/linux-2.4.20
Patch the Kernel (necessary only if kernel version is less than or equal

The Fusion-MPT Linux host drivers require a small set of patches for
the Linux kernel source tree. The packed source tar archive includes
patch sets for well known kernel versions. Apply the closest patch set
