• Function #6, green LED flashes 1x long + 1x short: Start mode when driving off
Depending on this setting, the take-off/start speed is more or less powerful.
A higher setting will lead to increased start-up current, which puts a special strain on the drive (drive pinion, main
gear, differential, tyres). We recommend using the setting "fast" or "very fast" only on loose ground. If the ground
offers particularly good grip, use the setting "normal" or "slow".
• Function #7, green LED flashes 1x long + 2x short: Timing
Generally, higher values for timing increase the engine speed. Torque, however, decreases and power consumption
increases (lower driving time, engine and speed controller may overheat). The manufacturer has already chosen
the best settings for the engine built into the vehicle. It should only be changed by experienced model sportsmen.
• Function #8, green LED, flashes 1x long + 3x short: Undervoltage protection
If LiPo rechargeable batteries are used, then you must ensure that the low-voltage protection is activated (we rec-
ommend at least 3.0 V per cell).
When the speed controller measures a battery voltage of 6.0 V with a 2-cell LiPo rechargeable battery (fully charged
approx. 8.4 V) and the setting "3.0 V/cell", the speed controller can either reduce the power or switch off the motor
at once (the speed controller reaction can be set in function #10).
When using am NiMH-drive battery, deactivate the undervoltage recognition.
Alternatively, you can set the undervoltage protection to 2.8V/cell when using a NiMH drive battery.
Here, deactivation takes place at a battery voltage of 5.6 V then (the speed controller does not recognise that a
6-cell NiMH drive battery is connected, but it calculates the deactivation voltage assuming that there is a 2-cell LiPo
battery).
• Function #9, green LED flashes, 1x long + 4x short: Overtemperature protection
The overheating protection of the speed controller can be set to 90 °C or 100 °C. The speed controller will switch
off the motor when the speed controller grows too hot. In this case, the green LED will flash and the motor will emit
a beep every 2 seconds.
When the speed controller has cooled off enough, it is ready for function.
For safety reasons, we recommend that you never switch off the overheating protection. When it is switched off, the
speed controller unit can be destroyed by overheating, and your guarantee will be void!
• Function #10, green LED flashes, 1x long + 5x short: Protection function
Here, you can set what happens when the undervoltage protection of the speed controller (function #8) is tripped
(battery voltage too low; protection from deep discharge of a LiPo battery).
You can choose between reduction of the motor output and immediate deactivation of the motor.
At power reduction, the motor output is limited to 20%. In this case, you can still drive the vehicle aside, e.g. on a
race track, or you can return the vehicle to you.
When the performance reduction starts, you need to stop driving the vehicle as quickly as possible to avoid harmful
deep discharge of the LiPo battery.
For safety reasons, we recommend that you never switch off the overheating protection. When it is switched off, the
speed controller unit can be destroyed by overheating, and your guarantee will be void!
