speed control (for analog control)
or the MTS control (for Multi-Train
System) depending on the condi-
tion of the rails:
- If the rails are slightly dirty, set
the loco speed to a faster positi-
on.
- If the rails are moderately dirty,
set the loco speed to a slower
position. The cleaning wheels
will clean more contamination.
- If the rails are extremely dirty, do
not try to remove all the dirt at
once. Set the speed control to a
middle position and repeat the
cleaning process several times
until the rails are clean.
Track Cleaning Hints
- When the 20670 is operated for
the first time or with new clea-
ning rings, it may not run smoo-
thly.
- When the cleaning wheels are
operating, the 20670 is very
noisy.
- The cleaning motor is equipped
with a thermal overload switch. If
the motor is overloaded, the
switch will turn off the cleaning
motor. The switch will automati-
cally reset after a few minutes.
To avoid overloading, set the on-
board speed control to a higher
position (for analog control) or
operate the loco at a higher
speed (for Multi-Train System).
- The 20670 will not clean wet or
oily rails.
Attention! Replace the cleaning
wheels before the gray cleaning
rings are worn to the level of the
outer wheel disks (see Replacing
the cleaning wheels). If the rings
are worn to the level of the outer
wheel disks, the disks can dama-
ge the track.
Attention! Do not allow the
20670 to operate unattended. If it
derails, the cleaning wheels may
continue to rotate and damage
the track.
Multi-Train System
This model has a direct decoder
interface. It can be equipped with
an LGB Multi-Train System Deco-
der (55020). The Decoder Interfa-
ce Cable (55026) is not required.
We strongly recommend decoder
installation by an LGB service
station. For more information,
contact your authorized LGB
retailer or an LGB service station
(see Authorized Service).
Hint: If this model is equipped
with a decoder, the digital/analog
DIP switches (marked "S1") on
the loco circuit board under the
8
rear hood will be set to OFF.
CAUTION! Do not set both S2
switches to ON at the same time.
The circuitry will be damaged.
The S2 switches remain OFF
both for analog and Multi-Train
System operation.
Hint: The track cleaning loco can-
not be clean the tracks with the
"Analog Control 7+1" mode of the
Multi-Train System. Furthermore,
decoder-equipped track cleaning
locos cannot clean the tracks on
analog layouts. However, the loco
can operate like a normal LGB
locomotive without the track clea-
ning function (power control
switch setting 1, Fig. 1b) under
these conditions.
Lighting
This model has automatic direc-
tional lanterns on the front, rear
and roof of the loco. The roof-
mounted hazard lights flash when
the cleaning wheels are in opera-
tion.
Power Supply
Attention! For safety and reliabi-
lity, operate this model with LGB
power supplies (transformers,
power packs and controls) only.
The use of non-LGB power sup-
plies will void your warranty.
Use this model with LGB power
supplies with an output of more
than 2 amps. For more informati-
on on LGB power supplies for
indoor, outdoor and multi-train
operation, see the LGB catalog.
Attention! When cleaning the
tracks, carbon dust and other
debris accumulates around the
track. This dust and debris can
stain carpet and other materials.
Consider this before operating
your cleaning loco. Ernst Paul
Lehmann Patentwerk and LGB of
America are not liable for any
damages.
