Are more glow plugs necessary?
Glow plugs wear, especially in the running-in phase. Therefore, we recommend that you always keep some glow plugs at hand for replacement. There are glow
plugs with different heat values; selection of the glow plug greatly influences the driving performance. In the run-in stage, you should use a "cold" glow plug for
high-performance engines. After the run-in stage, you can change to a glow plug with medium thermal value.
Use glow plugs for RC cars only! The wrong glow plug, e.g. for a 4-cycle plane engine, will cause the engine to run incorrectly and impairs
reconciliation.
Our tip: Glow plug heat classes
• Standard glow plugs for fuels with nitro methane additive (approx. 5 %)
• Cold glow plugs for fuels with nitro methane additive (approx. 10 %)
• Super cold glow plugs for fuels with nitro methane additive (more than 10 %)
Installation or exchange of the glow plug
This requires a glow plug wrench (Lug wrench SW 8, 9, 10 and 12).
Pre-heating of the glow plug
A glow plug starter with rechargeable battery is placed on the glow plug and heats this so that the air-fuel mixture ignites and the engine starts after operation of
the cable pull starter. When the engine is running smoothly, the glow plug starter is removed.
e) Tools and Auxiliary Devices
Before the first start, some basic settings must be performed or verified. Go through the various points of the following check list one by one to check your model
for readiness for operation. You need to provide the required accessories and operating equipment for this.
Tools:
• Socket wrench for the wheel nuts 17 mm
• 5 mm and 5.5 mm flat spanners to set alignment and inclination
• 1.5 mm Allen key for the grub screws on the adjusting rings of the throttle/brake and steering linkages
• Phillips screwdriver
• Normal screwdriver for the throttle stop screw and the main nozzle needle
Auxiliary devices:
• Cable clips
• Air filter oil
• "After Run" oil
