g) Calibrating the UV Sensor
Please note:
The wristwatch or the UV sensor have already been correctly calibrated in the factory. A recalibration is thus
normally no longer required. This can however be a good idea if you use the wristwatch at a location where
there is a depleted ozone layer, to ensure the correct value is displayed.
A recalibration is only possible when you either have a special UV generator which is suited to calibrating the
UV index or if you know the exact UV index at the location of the wristwatch (i.e. if you are next to a special
UV measuring station.
Do not us the value given by a radio or television station. Theses values can vary greatly from location to
location. This sort of recalibration will definitely not be an improvement over the factory setting!
If you would however still like to recalibrate after this warning, proceed as follows:
• First change to the UV index display mode (e.g. press the "MODE" button repeatedly until the UV index is displayed
in the lower line of the display).
• The display shows "LO", (see Chapter 11 f, setting the lower UV alarm).
• Briefly pres the "MODE" button, the display shows "HI", (see Chapter 11 f, setting the upper UV alarm).
• Briefly press the "MODE" button, "CAL" is shown in the display and the lower line shows a flashing numerical value,
e.g. "25".
The blinking number is a correction value, which can be adjusted with the "ST./STP" button and the "LAP/RESET" button
(hold down the respective button for faster adjustment of values). Please note the examples on the next page for
calculating the correction values.
• To exit the setting mode hold down the "MODE" button for 2 seconds.
